Northern Chic thanks to Stephen Gibbs (November 2009)
Art Evolution artist Stephen Gibbs , has joined forces with two other North East artist to form Boreal. There’s three of them (Chris Barter, Sally Smallwood and Stephen Gibbs) are based in Gateshead and describe themselves as an “urban-chic art/fashion label”. They design and produce limited edition, bespoke, handmade wallets, which are happily described as being rather funky.
They have collaborate with a whole raft of creative types (from street & graffiti artists to fine artists and illustrators) to come up with the designs which are then made into these pocket works of art. The wallets are constructed from a mix of matt laminated canvas and PVC, making them especially durable.
