
In the much anticipated One North East Tourism Awards, Art Evolution partner Coastal Retreats proudly accepted the Gold Award for 'Self-Catering Holiday of the Year 2008' North East of England.
It involves thousands of businesses, employs 60,775 of the region’s population and pumps £3.9 billion into the local economy each year – the North East England tourism industry is undoubtedly big business. The awards rewarded the leading individuals, businesses and attractions that are contributing to the region’s thriving tourism industry.
Coastal Retreats were crowned 'Self-Catering Holiday of the Year 2008' North East of England and a glitz filled evening held at The Newcastle Marriott, Gosforth Park.

Art Evolution artist luck enough to have their work featured in their stunning properties, todate, are photographer Mike MacFarlane and painter Sally Thompson . Mike is a landscape photographer, who is fascinated by the beauty of the light and land, especially the Northumberland coast, and his work was the perfect addition to ‘The Hemmel’, at Tughall Steads, near Newton by the Sea. Sally creates near abstract paintings that are colour studies of the constantly changing sky, sea and landscapes in Northumberland, which sit beatifully with the properties.
