The Journal resports on how the creative businesswoman Hannah Campion is turning her attention to the Far East with the help of a technology centre.

Art Evolution artist Hannah Campion has been taking part in Middlesbrough’s DigitalCity programme, which works with creative North East businesses to help them grow.

She has now secured DTI funding to help her with a two-month residency at the Gallerie Taksu in Kuala Lumpur from June. The Asian visit will culminate in solo exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Malaysia.

Ms Campion is taking part in the DigitalCity programme to help her develop her business, which also offers commissions and educational services.

She said: “Thanks to DigitalCity, I am receiving focused support which is completely tailored to my own fine art practice.

“I am receiving invaluable guidance from professionals working within the art world who are opening doors to new opportunities.

“I am very excited about heading to Kuala Lumpur in June where I will be able to build up my international artistic profile further.”

Enterprise co-ordinator for DigitalCity Scott Watson said: “DigitalCity works with a host of creative businesses to help them expand, but also to nurture North East talent. Hannah’s Middlesbrough based company is now receiving international acclaim and is going from strength to strength, which is exactly what DigitalCity strives to achieve.”

As well as being involved in exhibitions at venues across the region and the capital city, the 27-year-old artist, of Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, has also exhibited in the US and received commissions from across the UK, Europe and Australia.
