North East designers have been given the chance to showcase their talent against the glamorous backdrop of new showhomes created in County Durham by award winning housebuilder, Yuill Homes.
The developer’s interior designers have recruited the help of local artists to add bespoke finishing touches to the stunning showhomes at its Whitworth Park development in Spennymoor.
In line with its policy to support local suppliers wherever possible, Yuill consulted Northumberland-based online gallery Art Evolution to create glass artwork, canvases and photography to complement the lime and chocolate theme of the handsome, four bedroom Buckleigh property.
Louise Tucker-Kasonali, interior designer at Yuill Homes, said: “Working with Art Evolution’s artists has allowed us to commission pieces to colour match perfectly against fabrics and accessories. Art Evolution looked at the fabric swatches, schemes and mood boards and then came back with a proposal for each from local artists. The end result was some exclusive pieces which gave our interiors a real wow factor.
“As designers at Yuill Homes, we always try to support local craft and design talent. This has been made easy through the creation of Art Evolution, which helped match our schemes with local artists and photographers to get a truly individual look.”
The two main artists involved in the project were glass artist Emma Picton of Blaydon and abstract painter Sally Thompson, from Eshott, Northumberland. Select pieces of photography by Hugh Harris, of Prudhoe, Wyn Barnes, of Ryton, and Mark Taylor of Gateshead were also used.
Emma Picton said: "I'm delighted to be working again with Art Evolution and Yuill Homes, and have provided them with unique pieces of glass art that show their customers some different ideas and possibilities for enhancing a modern living space.
“It is encouraging that there are still businesses out there which understand the value of locally made hand crafted products rather than mass produced imports, and continue to support the region’s artists in this way."
With ‘a touch more imagination’ as its mantra and design at the heart of the company, Yuill Homes is committed to delivering exemplary standards of innovative housing. High specification and attention to detail is evident across all properties and with added value and superb customer service, the award-winning house builder guarantees value for money.
The smart Buckleigh showhome at Whitworth Park is open from 11am to 5pm seven days a week, along with the stunning Marlborough and Hampshire showhomes. Properties are currently from £119,950. For more information contact the development sales manager on 01338 811 616 or visit www.yuillhomes.co.uk.
