The Sunderland Echo covers the work that Art Evolution artist Alan Finn has created for the album cover of his rock idols, the Wildhearts.
When Alan Finn finished his Art Degree, he never imagined his work would be used as an album cover for his rock idols.
But now Sunderland University Fine Art graduate is combining his two favourite loves – painting/designing and rock music – to help The Wildhearts to chart success. Alan Finn, or Finn as he prefers to be known, 27, has created various commissioned works, but the best moment of his career came when The Wildhearts front manager Ginger asked him to design their new album cover, through a message on his myspace web page. Finn said, “I have been a fan since I was 16 so it is a really big deal/ I cannot believe it’s happened. They have been going since the early 90’s and I’ve been to see them quite a few times.2 He added2 They’re a huge band underground, and the new album is supposed to be the best album since their debut. It is great to be part of something like that.
The Wildhearts are originally from Newcastle and have a sound that is a mixture of hard rock and melodic pop. The band has been at the forefront of the British Rock scene since 1993. Art Evolution artist, Alan Finn, specialises in PopArt of Iconic Heroes, hand drawn and painted with acrylic on canvas. He has produced paintings of legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles and many more, displaying his work on the Art Evolution gallery at www.artevolution.co.uk.
His design for the Wildhearts new self-entitled album follows his PopArt style with lays of black-on-white images of the band members.
