Plans to paint the town red in aid of a children’s charity are well underway as the ChildLine Ruby Ball announces further donations of auction prizes to help raise funds for its vital service.

The ChildLine Ruby Ball 2007 will take place on Friday, 16 March at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, to help to keep the crucial helpline going for children right here in the North East.

Art Evolution, based in Felton, Northumberland, have offered their support for the ball with their donation of a stunning framed limited edition Gordon Lamb print for the grand auction.

Guests will be treated to a red hot night of entertainment including a live jazz band, balloon bonanza, after-dinner card game, a caricaturist, a silent auction, special star guests and, of course, some fantastic prizes.

The auction will also include a set of ruby jewellery, a Hilton weekend break with BMW, a Venture photography package and NUFC corporate passes.

Clare Framrose, ChildLine’s regional fundraiser for the North East, said:”The ChildLine Ruby Ball aims to bring the people of the North East together to raise funds for this lifesaving service. ChildLine North East and Yorkshire currently receives calls from more than 650 children every day, but lack of funds means that only about half of them can get through to our counsellors. We fear that a child in very desperate need of help may not be able to get through to us so we are trying to raise funds here in this region to prevent that from happening.

“We are very grateful to Art Evolution for their kind and generous donation of this limited edition artwork which we hope will raise a lot of money on the evening; but we still need more businesses to support us by attending the event and offering donations for auction and raffle prizes.”

Last year’s ChildLine ball raised £28,200 for the charity’s work in the North East and Yorkshire, and the 2007 event aims to raise at least £34,000 as it promises to be even more spectacular, with capacity for 430 guests to attend the occasion.

The charity is now seeking further auction and prize draw donations for the glittering event which is this year sponsored by SFM Legal Services and Wealth Management. Tickets for the event are selling quickly at £60 per person and tables seat either 10 or 12 people.
