Newcastle based online art gallery Art Evolution has been working in partnership with the national development company Terrace Hill to support the work on one North East artist.

Work by abstract painter Iris Houghton has been housed in Hudson Quay 1 at Manhattan Gate, Middlesbrough, to add the final touches to what is already as stunning building.

Terrace Hill recently finished the first of five proposed buildings at the site which will offer a mix of office and leisure use, with stunning riverside view. The building sets the standard for the Tees Valley Regeneration flagship development at Middlehaven and is the perfect setting for artwork.

Art Evolution’s Managing Director, Victoria Anderson, said ‘Over the past few months we have been working closely with Terrace Hill to ensure we found the perfect pieces of work to make a lasting statement in the building. It is a fantastic building and Art Evolution is pleased to have been able to work with such as prestigious development. Terrace Hill wants to ensure that Manhattan Gate is the business capital of Teesvalley and we are very pleased to be part of that. Terrace Hill have been a pleasure to work with. Their interest in supporting the arts is extremely encouraging for the region and are artists in the whole. We hope to assist them with additional projects across the region in the next twelve month and look forward to showcasing other Art Evolution artists.”

Martin Vickerman director of Terrace Hill said ‘I have been delighted at the knowledge, professionalism and range of pieces offered by Art Evolution, not to forget Iris' exciting work.'

Art Evolution supplied Terrace Hill with three large scale paintings by North East artist Iris Houghton via their art rental scheme. The scheme offers companies and individuals an exciting new way of accessing affordable, contemporary art work. Art rental is common place in the Capital city and its benefits are well recognised. The service offered via the Art Evolution gallery, www.artevolution.co.uk, was launched a year ago is unique to the North East and has already offered North East clients greater flexibility in their choice of artwork.

Art rental is extremely cost effective and allows client’s access to works that may have seemed previously unattainable. It has the added benefit that an organisation or individual can gain feedback from friends and colleagues on the artwork they have selected before they commit to buying the work and the ability to change artwork in line with changing décor and styles.
