‘2005 was another great year in which the North East highlighted itself as a culturally vibrant region in which to live, work and play. It was also the year that Art Evolution, the Newcastle based art retailer, launched its online gallery www.artevolution.co.uk. The company’s online presence offers individuals and corporate groups easy access to over 750 pieces of contemporary artwork across a diverse range of photography, sculpture and painting styles.

Art Evolution made a substantial impact on the North East arts market in 2005. The company quickly gained new clients across the corporate, residential and public sector markets. Working with, for example, interior designers and property developers, it had the opportunity to supply artwork to a large number of the region’s iconic buildings, bringing artwork to the forefront of the daily lives of those who work and live in the region. Art Evolution’s aim is to make artwork more accessible to organisations and individuals and it achieved this with flying colours in 2005. Art Evolution isn’t simply a gallery, it is an art buyer’s personal shopper. It offers a helping hand when a client is looking to rent or purchase a piece of work, ensuring the client gates the right work for the right space, advice on suitable framing and presentation of work and guidance on the commissioning of bespoke pieces.

The company was developed from the vision of the managing director Victoria Anderson: “We are ecstatic with the interest that those in the region and further afield have shown in Art Evolution and the artists we support. In 2004 we wanted to create an organisation t5hat was at the forefront of art retail and that showcased the North East’s wealth of artistic talent. We are very proud to have achieved this in 2005.

In 2006 we plan to recruit two more members of staff to assist Art Evolution in encouraging the growth of the North East’s art market and to enable us to maintain the attentive service we offer to our clients.”
