Ian's work, as a freelance photographer, invokes natural movement in his landscapes. The likes of Ansel Adams, Joe Cornish and Charlie Waite have all had major influences on the style of his work.
Having trained with Turners of Newcastle in the mid '70s as an industrial and commercial photographer his work has grown from the constrictions of the periods style and medium:
" In those days the emphasis was on producing high quality work using large format cameras, however I always preferred the flexibility that smaller format cameras offered, although I was never 100% happy with the quality that 35mm could offer. With the onset of digital imaging I found that I could achieve medium format quality with my pro spec DSLR, this has resulted in digital, imaging taking over my entire workflow."
